Celebrating Diwali

We have been learning about Diwali and this is how it began. The King's son Rama went to another country and met a princess called Seta and Rama and Seta got married. When Rama got home the King said Rama would become King on his death.   The King got angry and sent them away for 14 years. Rama and Seta were hungry, so Seta went to get some food but they got tricked and Seta was trapped, but did break free. After 14 years, Rama and Seta went home and everyone had their lights on to guard Rama and Seta’s way home. That is how Diwali became a festival to be celebrated.
Hindus light up divas and eat sweets, also girls wear colourful saris and they watch fireworks together.
